Introduction

In today’s competitive digital marketing environment, creating highly customized email campaigns is essential for engaging audiences and driving results. Recently, I applied advanced Liquid to enhance 11 email templates, introducing dynamic content that aligned with business-specific logic. In addition to implementing Liquid, I integrated an API payload to inject company business logic, ensuring that each email delivered was precisely tailored to customer actions and preferences. This process involved leveraging custom event properties, canvas properties, and other data sources to create a seamless, automated email experience.

What Is Liquid?

Liquid is a powerful templating language that allows for the creation of highly dynamic and personalized content in emails. By using variables, loops, and conditional statements, Liquid enables marketers to display different content based on user data, preferences, and actions.

How I Customized 11 Email Templates with Liquid

In this project, I applied advanced Liquid to 11 different email templates, introducing personalized elements for each recipient. This customization included dynamically changing product recommendations, personalized greetings, and tailored messaging based on past interactions and behaviors. Liquid allowed for complex logic to be built into the templates, ensuring that each user received content that was specifically relevant to them.

Integrating API Payloads for Business Logic

Receiving and Utilizing API Payloads

A key aspect of this project was receiving an API payload that contained crucial business logic. This data, which included user preferences, purchase history, and engagement metrics, was integrated into the email templates using Liquid. The API payload allowed me to pull in real-time data directly from the company’s system, ensuring that each email was up-to-date and reflective of the user’s most recent interactions.

Embedding Business Logic into Campaigns

Using the data from the API, I was able to build complex business logic within the email templates. This included adjusting the content based on user segments, purchase history, and custom event properties. The result was a highly customized email experience where users received messages that directly corresponded to their behavior, increasing the relevance and effectiveness of the campaigns.

By inserting these properties into the Liquid code, each user’s email was automatically personalized based on their unique journey.

Working with Canvas Properties

By using these properties, I ensured that users received the correct emails at the right time in their journey, whether they were in the onboarding process or engaging with a new product launch. The flexibility of canvas properties allowed me to design emails that adapted based on where the user was in the campaign flow.

Other Forms of Data

Besides custom event properties and canvas properties, I worked with additional data sources, such as customer preferences and demographic information, to further personalize the email content. This holistic approach to data integration ensured that the emails were not only visually appealing but also contextually relevant.
